Fed up with trees that look like blobs, water that simply doesn't look real, with ripples and waves that are hard edged and look like they have been painted 'on top' of the water rather than being a part of it? Or perhaps you struggle with large areas of texture like beaches and meadows. The simple and effective techniques in this course will address these areas specifically, and many others.
What makes a landscape look natural? A lot of it is in the color and the shape of elements. Learn to match colors and mix them so they look natural and authentic. Learn to paint waves on the beach, distant trees that give the impression of trees without being either uncomfortably lumpy or being overly detailed. Gain confidence from knowing you have the techniques on hand to paint what you see and make it look real.
Artists use many techniques to trick the viewer into thinking they are looking into a 3 dimensional landscape. Learn about aerial perspecive, and the effect it is has on color, clarity and tone. Use the strategies shared in the course to manipulate texture, size and detail so that depth is automatic. Moving forwards your paintings will look like landscapes, not marks on a flat surface!

Learn to paint beautiful Watercolor Landscapes with Michele:
Learning to paint landscapes should be simple. There's no requirement to buy tons of obscure equipment. Using just 10 basic colors and 5 basic brushes we can achieve anything. Have more colors? Or a favorite brush? No problem, go ahead and use them. This course guides you, it doesn't prescribe rigid rules. But it will give you the understanding of the tools of the trade so you can progress with confidence. Paint, brushes, paper and preparation - everything is covered.
Color is everything and can be confusing and difficult. We start the course with an in-depth look at blues, greens and neutrals. No more luminous, unnatural green trees or banana colored beaches as we learn together to create a huge range of nuanced shades from a small amount of colors. From pale sand to natural fresh greens, from stormy clouds to the way the sea overlaps the beach, we will learn mixing and correcting. Because getting the color right is half the battle.
Watercolor is unique amongst paint mediums. The effects simply cannot be replicated, yet areas of texture can be tricky. Brush marks cannot be relied upon in the way they can with acrylics or oils. Learn with me as I take you through clever tricks and tips that will have you creating astonishing realism with ease. From breaking waves to grasses to cloud shadows, these things will become easy as we learn, practice and build on simple techniques.

The exchange rate changes every day but you can get a rough idea by putting the question into Google. There may be slight variations depending on which conversion metrics the Thinkific site is using but you can certainly get a good idea of the approximate price. Remember to do this on the same day you intend to buy the course. When you buy Thinkific will automatically convert the price to charge you the right amount of money for your local currency.
Paypal is just a method by which the site receives payment, in *most* countries you can pay with your usual credit or debit card, payments are also accepted by Stripe.
In addition to email access to Michele, there is a dedicated Facebook group, just for students of Michele’s Thinkific courses, where you can compare results and get advice alongside other students. If you have any access or log in issues or trouble understanding how to navigate the site there's a free PDF guide that will make everything clear. If the guide doesn't work just email for tech support.
After you buy the course you have lifetime access, you can take the course at your leisure and re-visit any of the modules you like. Plus you will automatically have access to any additional content or upgrades that are added at a later date.
There are 6 modules, plus introductory tasks, conclusion videos and bonus materials. Each module contains videos (typically about 10 mins long), and two downloadable PDFs. The first PDF is an illustrated reminder of the techniques and processes taught in the video, it also includes additional tips and advice to ensure understanding and success. The second PDF gives you two copyright free photographs to complete larger paintings from (optional but recommended). The bonus materials include extra free learning resources and photos. FULL CURRICULUM can be viewed at the bottom of this page, scroll down.
If you already have watercolor paper, paints and brushes you may not need to buy much initially. I will not be insisting you have exact materials and brands. However, there will be a video and downloadable PDF with tons of advice and suggested materials so you can choose what to buy if you don’t have anything. As we go through the videos a few other things are used including masking fluid, gum arabic, salt, paper towel and one or two watercolor pencils and oil pastels. You do not need full sets of these, nor are they vital to your understanding of techniques.
Sometimes people buy in error or have other reasons for wanting a refund. These are entertained whenever possible. Please be aware that we no longer give 100% refunds as there are many costs involved in offering a course for sale and processing refunds, including site hosting fees, admin support and currency conversion/payment fees. Please also be aware that in the 'back end' of the site we can see which modules you have accessed with times watched etc. Therefore you will be offered a refund of up to 80% dependent on how much of the course you have accessed and watched.
Access and Log in Guide (IMPORTANT! Download and save it to your PC - I get more emails about log in issues than anything else, this will get you back into your course!)
